HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!TV) 2014/7/1 – “As soon as the first novel hit the top 10 on the New York Times list, we got calls about the rights,” said The Strain executive producer del Toro to BuzzFeed at The ATX Television Festival. “But I wouldn’t sell the rights until the trilogy was published because I didn’t want to be thinking about the movie or TV show during the writing process.”
The Strain is a high concept thriller. Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City, is called to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
The show is quite creepy. The series is based off the books by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. The show stars Corey Stoll, Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, and Miguel Gomez. The Strain premieres this July.
This show is a co-created by executive producers and writers Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan co-wrote the pilot script for The Strain, which was directed by del Toro.
