HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!TV) 9/26/2009 – Grey’s Anatomy celebrates its 100th episode in season five. There’s relationship angst at the beginning of the season for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey), but things get better as the season goes on. Season five shows the doctors starting to come into their own and the drama is as intense as the first season.
Midway thought the season the stress level intensifies for the doctors. They have to operate on one of their own, Izzy (Katherine Heigl). She’s had a strange year with ex-boyfriend Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who she’s knows is dead and only she can see. Alex is by Izzie’s side the whole time while they try to figure out what’s wrong with her. There’s a big wedding and a small written ceremony to celebrate finding love and commitment. And the explosive season finale has the lives of two beloved characters held in the balance.
Over the last few years Grey’s Anatomy was getting to be too dark and the characters were getting stale. Season five brings the series back. The characters click again. Shonda Rimes has brought back the magic of the first season that made the show such a hit.
The seven-disc DVD set includes every episode from season five of the ABC hit series. One full disc of exclusive bonus features includes a 20-minute featurette on the filming of the 100th episode, interviews with Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, Jeffery Dean Morgan, extended episodes, unaired episodes, and bloopers.
