HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!TV) 9/22/2009 – For the first time since Sleeping Beauty Princess Aurora is in a new “Once upon a time…” Jasmine with her magic carpet and other characters from the Academy Award-winning masterpiece Aladdin return for a new adventure. Aurora and Jasmine each discover what it takes to be a true Princess and to follow their dreams. Animated in the classic Disney style, with new songs this delightful Disney Princess Enchanted Tales shows how to follow your dreams.

Aurora takes over her father’s duties for a day when he goes away. She learns how difficult it is to rule and the joy in success. Jasmine gets bored and takes on a task that’s beyond her capabilities. When her mother’s horse escapes and the boy responsible for taking care of it may be fired or worse, Jasmine vows to find the horse even thought she’s never been able to get close to it in the past. How will she do it?

Instead of wishful thinking and passively waiting for assistance, as in “wishing upon a star,” “dreams can come true,” and “some day my prince will come,” Disney has moved away from gender dependence to cultivate a more self-activated viewpoint. As more than one film has told little girls in recent years, everybody can be a princess. The Disney princess franchise has evolved to match the concept of a worthy royalty, a concept that Princess Dianna used to change how the world sees princesses. As a parent, you have to appreciate this new vision of cultivating the values and character traits to make a person royal, rather than having the world handed to a child.

The classic Disney animation style and the vibrant colors and detailed background are Disney at its best. The songs are good and memorable for kids.

The two Disney princesses show how to find the determination to succeed so your dreams can come true. Princesses Aurora and Jasmine make mistakes. They become better people for having fixed them on their own. It’s a much better message for girls than that we should hope to be rescued instead of living life fully. This story is a large step in the right direction. The empowering upbeat stories are a refreshing change. Bravo!

Dvd Bonus Features include a sneak peek at The Princess and The Frog coming in theaters in November 2009. There’s a Happiness Was Made to Shine Video with Cinderella.
