HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!TV) 2012/5/8 – “I just write what I feel and play it hard,” says country rock-n-roll singer Glitter Rose. “My style is very raw. I’m influenced very much by The Rolling Stones. Mick and Keith created a very poetic musical experience, with raw, natural guitars.”

Host Gabrielle Pantera will interview Glitter Rose and take callers’ questions on Gosh!Radio Meet the Music. Watch the show live at www.goshradio.com. Viewers call in each week during the show to ask questions or give a shout out to the guests. Callers phone (559) 546 1700 in the United States: and enter code 472737. Gosh!Radio provides callers with local numbers in 15 countries that are listed on the web site. The show broadcasts worldwide on Saturday mornings at 10am Pacific time. Gabrielle Pantera is the entertainment editor for Gosh!TV.

The music of Glitter Rose is outlaw Southern rock, a perfect blend of country and rock-n-roll with an outlaw attitude. Her message carries emotion. “Whether its a story about someone I know, or an experience in my own life, every story I tell evokes real emotion,” says Rose. “You can feel it in everything from the lyrics to the chords I choose and the way I play them.”

Glitter Rose wrote her first album, Girl of Mystery, at age 12 and recorded it when she was 13. Her second album, Wolf’s Cry, released when she was 14. At age 15, she started the rock band Hollywood High. She released three singles with that band: Class of ’69, Bred to Shred, and Embrace the Sin. In 2007, Glitter Rose went back to being a soloist, releasing the album Southern Comfort, then the single Doublewide on the Backside. She also released an acoustic CD, GR at the PALMS. Her latest album is Dead or Alive, that dropped in March 2012.

Glitter Rose at the Hardrock Cafe Hollywood

Currently in residency at Hard Rock Cafe on Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, Glitter Rose has performed 2,500 shows. She’s the featured performer at Southern Rock Brunch, an event the Hard Rock created around her music. In the past 14 years, Glitter Rose has played at The NAMM Show, the Dallas International Guitar Festival, Whisky a GoGo and House of Blues in Hollywood, Poor David’s Pub in Dallas, the Main St. Arts Festival in Ft. Worth, and at Hard Rock Cafes all over the U.S.

Rose started writing music when she was 12. “I wrote country music, although I didn’t listen to a lot of country,” says Rose. “So it was something that was natural in me. I’ve always been a huge rock music fan. That’s what I was raised on, everything from Van Halen to Tom Petty.”

“As a teenager, I wrote rock music in the style of Motley Crue and Guns n’ Roses,” says Rose. “I enjoyed that for several years. Then, when I turned 20, I wanted to blend the two styles, create something unique and real. I combine what I feel and what I love in my writing.”

“The way I write songs is different every time,” says Rose. “Sometimes it starts with a guitar riff. Other times it’s words. Sometimes it’s a melody. There are also times when I might start an idea and put it aside. Then, when I’m writing something new, that prior piece written happens to fit and the two become one. Songwriting has always been such an interesting art to me…being able to express feelings and tell stories accompanied by music. It’s much like watching a movie and
hearing the words people are speaking while there’s music in the background enhancing the emotion of the words.”

Rose sang from a young age, joining the school choir at age 10. She’s a guitarist, acoustic and electric. She’s also a lefty. “When I first started writing at 12, I tried to learn on a right-handed guitar to accompany my singing,” says Rose. “I couldn’t play it. I then started playing keyboards, thinking I maybe wasn’t cut out for guitar…although I loved guitar. Then, I discovered left-handed guitars. Got my first one at 14, and played a live gig on guitar one month after learning to play. Once I got a lefty in my hands, I knew guitar was my instrument. It helps my music in the sense that I like to rock…play hard. There’s so much versatility in guitar playing.”

“Recently I had the pleasure of performing in an All Star Band including Matt Sorum, Chris Chaney, Billy Duffy, Billy Morrison, Wes Borland and Kenny Aronoff,” says Rose. “The show was for one of my endorsements, BAE Audio. I grew up listening to these guys’ music and they all were so nice to work with. Since I started in the business as a kid, I always try to perform with young, local, and up-and-coming talent, giving them an opportunity to grow and be seen.”

Some of the artists who helped Rose as a teenager included Dave Williams of Drowning Pool, Sugarbomb, and Joey C. Jones of Sweet Savage. “One of my favorite stories is about Devin Snead of Buckcherry,” says Rose. “I was on a tour to Las Vegas and Hollywood when I was 14. I lost my drummer in Vegas and had a show at Dragonfly in Hollywood in 2 days. One of our friends on the road called Devin and asked him to sit in with us. He invited us to his rehearsal space and we ran through the show. He nailed it and was so nice to work with.”

Rose says her top pick to perform with would be The Rolling Stones. “I’m big on live performance and putting on a show,” says Rose. “I think it would be incredible to get down with Mick and Keith on a stage. I’d love to perform with Steven Tyler for the same reason. And, Tina Turner would be amazing. I wish that Johnny Cash was still alive, as well as Etta James. And of course, Elvis Presley. These are all huge idols and influences to me. The power they evoke on stage is what makes them incredible performers.”

Glitter Rose was born in the Mojave Desert in Southern California in a small town on old Route 66. She moved to Texas when she was 12 and has adopted the state as her home.

Albums

Rose co-produced Dead or Alive with Dran Michael. It was mixed and engineered by John Thomas Price. “I’m very proud of the album,” says Rose. “It encompasses everything I’m about as a musician and songwriter.” The album is dedicated to the memory of Rose’s father, who passed away Christmas 2011. “He never heard the album,” says Rose. “But he helped me choose the title and I know he’s listening now.” Dead or Alive is available through iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon, and GlitterRose.com.

Rose is currently independent, but says she’d be interested in being signed to a label that will support her style and her songwriting. “I have very loyal fans,” says Rose. “My goal is to continue to make music from my heart that speaks to them.” She has fans in the U.S., England, France and Italy.

Upcoming Performances

Every Sunday Glitter Rose performs for the Southern Rock Brunch from 10:30am-12:30pm at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood. Her Dead or Alive CD Release Show will be at the Hard Rock Cafe on Friday, May 18th. She has more dates coming, with that information posted regularly on her web site and Facebook.

Glitter Rose works with the charity www.Heroes4Heroes.org that sends comic books, DVDs, music and entertainment to the soldiers overseas. For every copy of her 2007 album Southern Comfort, she sends an album to a soldier overseas. Other organizations she’s supported include Girls Inc., Dallas Legacy AIDS Foundation, Dalmatian Rescue of North Texas, and The Bridge Homeless Assistance Campus. “I’ve been blessed with a talent that can change people’s lives,” says Rose. “I want to do everything I can to bring light to those in a less fortunate situation.”

Three songs from Rose’s album Dead or Alive are to be played on Meet the Music. The songs are Desert Blues, Sad Day For Love, and Red Light. “There will always be something special about the Mojave Desert to me,” says Rose. “My song Desert Blues is written about it and tells the story of what emotions it evokes in me.”

Songs Glitter Rose plans to perform live on Gosh!Radio include Kody Was A Killer, Vodka Girls and Buda Negra.

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!TV) 2012/3/29 – Gosh!Radio host Gabrielle Pantera will be interviewing the Cannoneers and taking callers’ questions on Meet the Music. Watch live at www.goshradio.com and call in your questions during the show using the phone numbers listed below. Gosh!Radio serves callers with local numbers in 15 countries.

“I think all of us have quite different influences musically and it is this that makes us such a great fit,” says Cannoneers lead guitarist Joe Taylor. “We manage to find the center where all these meet and this is from where truly great music comes from. It’s accessible to everybody. A majority of the self titled debut is about the new chances that arise from the end of something, mainly a relationship, but it can be translated to many things.”

The Cannoneers describe their music as “awesome, straight forward, rock-n-roll.” The band members are lead vocalist and guitarist, Mike Monosky, lead guitarist Joe Taylor, Robert Pierret on bass and Tim Galvin on drums. Monosky is from Pittsburgh. Taylor is from Kalamazoo Michigan. Galvin is from Muskeegon Michigan. Pierret is from the bay area in Northern California.

Taylor says his songwriting process is pretty flexible. “We write all our own songs and the process is. Usually one of us presents the others with an idea, or a whole fleshed out song if they have a solid vision of the final product. It’s a lot of fun to start with one piece like a progression, melody or bass line or rhythm and let everyone’s input determine the outcome. It’s a very organic process.”

The Cannoneers have appeared in Los Angeles and all over southern California. “We started early on with a Monday night residency at The Echo, performed at The Staples Center as part of a LA Kings contest in which we were one of four finalists, House of Blues Sunset Strip, The Satellite, The Echoplex, The Avalon,” says Taylor. “Outside of LA we’ve played The Tiki Bar, Detroit Bar (Both in Costa Mesa) and Bar Eleven in San Diego.”

Bands the Cannoneers has performed with in the Los Angeles area include Lemon Sun, Sabrosa Purr, The Tenderbox, and She Wants Revenge. “We released our 7-inch vinyl playing with Spectrum, a Sonic Boom/Spacemen 3 side project,” says Taylor. “He was unsatisfied with the amps that were supplied for the show. Luckily our friend Amy Lay was there and she had a Fender Twin Reverb at her place up the street. She came back with it and they did their sound check. He took forever and kept swearing at the amp in his British accent, pretty amazing.”

Taylor says he doesn’t remember when how long the Cannoneers have being playing music. “We have all been playing music since we were pretty young, and are all multi instrumental which really helps when it comes to writing songs.”

Taylor says he dreams of sharing the stage with The Foo Fighters. “They are just awesome and one of the bands that we all admire.”

The Cannoneers have made many charity performances. “We recently played an amazing charity event at the Avalon raising money for pediatric cancer, ” says Taylor. It’s part of the THON event held every year at Penn State, Mike’s alma mater.

The Canonneers released a 7-inch 2-song single in 2010 and their self-titled debut CD on the 13th of January 2012. They are currently writing material for a new album. Available at iTunes, Bandcamp, and Amazon.

The Cannoneers nex livet performance is on Friday, April 6th at the Grand Star Jazz Club in downtown Los Angeles.

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!TV) 2012/1/19 – Hip-hop artist Valet with hip-hop artists Kurty Durty will be the guests January 21st on Gosh!Radio Meet the Music.

“I believe my songs have a message,” says hip-hop artist Valet. “I don’t make every song for the radio. It would be unreal to act as if I never went through any struggle. I try to keep the message positive, but life is about positive and negatives so some songs have some of life’s negatives which some of us would have to do to survive.”

While Valet’s style is hip-hop as a whole, he looks for inspiration to great artists and how they created their music catalog. “Music influences me,” says Valet. “I just don’t listen to Rap all day. I might listen to some BB King and Bobby Blue Bland. thers days I might feel like listening to the O’Jays or Michael Jackson. I just love music, as well as trying to pick other artist’s brain and figure out what influenced them to write the song.”

Gosh!Radio Meet the Music host Gabrielle Pantera will be interviewing live Valet and hip-hop artist Kurty Durty. Valet released his latest album Danger Tape in August. “I have more albums in my catalog such as Park That Azz, which was a big hit in Japan, Confessions of a Hustler Movie/CD, and Bet They Hit. Kurty Durty has released the albums Hiphopology and Freak Dancin, and the single She Make It Bounce.

Meet the Music host Gabrielle Pantera

“We’re not afraid to try or speak about different subjects,” says Valet. “This is how the song Somethin Bout Them Boots came to be. Thanks Que’ A.We were trying new ideas and subjects that no one has tried yet.” The song is pop/hip-hop has a hip-hop feel to it with more beat.

“I write my own songs, but we also have a team of writers,” says Valet. “We sit down and colab. When you have three and four minds working together it’s a lot more creation that goes on. Being a hip-hop artist we are trained from the jump to write our own lyrics and songs. But later down the line is when we realize that sometimes it takes input from other writers and artists to make a song complete.”

Valet says his favorite instrument is his computer running JReason 6, my MPC and little keyboards. “Reason is really 70% of my music because it has everything I need. Almost every song that I produce myself is done with Reason. Now all Pro Tools 10 has to do is add 64bit Re-Wire and I can Re-Wire them together again.”

Performances

Hip-hop artist Kurty Durty on Gosh!Radio Jan. 21st

“I’ve preformed with big acts like Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube,” says Kurty Durty. “It was one of the greatest experiences in my life. WC spoke with us about our performance and told us a lot about the music industry. I respect those dudes for real. They gave a chance to rock with them and we weren’t even popular in our city or nothing, so basically you can say that was a big inspiration for us.”

“I’ve played all around the US. I’ve did many shows in California…mainly Hollywood…Nevada, Detroit, Texas, Indianapolis and of course Bakersfield,” says Valet. “Mostly on the West Coast. We have our sights on going overseas in 2012.” Valet has an upcoming spring tour.

“I would love to perform with Will.i.am or the Black Eyed Peas,” says Valet. “I’ve been to one of their shows and it’s like a wave of energy going back and forth from the fans to Will.i.am, from Black Eyed Peas to the fans.” Valet would also like to perform with P Diddy, Rihanna and David Williams.

Background

“I’ve been in the business for long as I can remember, a few years now,” says Valet. “Started off loadin’ speakers for a local DJ group Groove City. Been rockin the M.I.C since high school. Graduated from Musicians Institute in Hollywood.”

Valet was born in Bakersfield, California. “Bake Town is what I call it, but if you’re from there it’s the Patch. A lot of people think it’s a country town and what not, but it’s far from that. It’s a pretty decent town. A few acts came from the town, Brian Hooks, Korn, Merle Haggard, and Mathew Ryan. Also pro ball players Joey Porter, Chris Childs and Michael Stewart.”

Label and Distribution

Valet is signed to an independent label Lo-Down Entertainment/Punch Mode Productions. “It was destined the way I met the company CEO,” says Valet. “I was anxious for more knowledge in the music industry and I went to a music conference in Hollywood. I got lost and ended up
at UCLA a George Clinton concert and they let me through the gate! I had my mind so set and focused on attending the music conference that I turned around and left the concert. I finally found the right place and that’s where I met Cisco, CEO and founder of Lo-Down Entertainment.”

Valet’s Danger Tape album is distributed through CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon, and Napster. “We have all the digital outlets pumping my album,” says Valet. “Soon to be in Best Buy and Target.”

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!TV) 2012/1/12 – “Sometimes a melody/hook will come to us separately and we will build around it together,” says Bori Rani Tracy of The Vignatis. “Or, Fabrice will write a structure with a general melody and I will embellish it and add lyrics or we each write our own songs.” Boro Rye Fabrice says, “When I co-write with Tracy, I come up with a chord progression that hopefully with inspire her to come up with a great melody and then either she or I or both write the lyrics.”

Boro Rye Fabrice and Bori Rani Tracy are the Gypsy music-inspired pop singing duo The Vignatis. “We write with regard to topics from life’s struggles, childhood insecurities, love, travels and world peace,” says Fabrice. “Part of our message is for each person to become happy by becoming aware of the nature of their own lives.”

The Vignatis blends English and French vocals with Gypsy orchestration featuring acoustic guitar, clarinet, accordion and violin, swingin’ drivin’ rockin’ drum beats with modern/vintage instrumentation of electric guitar and upright slap bass as used in Rock-a-Billy. Their unique sound has the Southern twang of a honky tonk piano and pedal steel. It’s Rockabilly, Gypsy, Country and Jazz.

The Vignatis recorded their first CD, Birth of the Gypsybilly, with the rhythm section of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, featuring Bernie Dresel on drums and John “Spazz” Hatton on upright bass. They also recorded with violinist Charlie Bisharat. The Vignatis is producing a new CD now, Birth of the Gypsybilly Vol. 2.

Gypsy Jazz originated in France. It replaces drums with rhythm guitar to embrace the mobile nature of the Gypsy culture. It uses a special percussive technique of up-down strumming called “La Pompe” emphasized on beats 2 and 4. The Vignatis employ a technique they call La Pompe Renversée, emphasizing beats 1 and 3 in tandem with the bass as a musical signature. They utilize the chromatic and Gypsy scales often performed with violin and clarinet in traditional Gypsy music.

Fabrice plays guitar. “You can do everything on a guitar,” says Fabrice. “Harmony, rhythm and melody. For me, it’s a great instrument for writing.”

Tracy plays clarinet and piano. “I chose clarinet against my will in 7th grade,” says Tracy. “My mom didn’t want me to play my first choice of trumpet. She must’ve known what was best because I really connect with the clarinet and its nerdy ways.”

Fabrice and Tracy have each been singing since a very young age. Their first CD Birth of the Gypsybilly was released in February 2009 on their own label GB Music. It’s available at iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby. Their next CD will be Birth of the Gypsybilly Vol. 2.

The Vignatis has performed in Southern California and Europe. As a contemporary hybrid band, there are many different styles with which they could do a “Crossroads.” “We’d love to tour with Brad Paisley, Brian Setzer, Chris Isaak, Eric Clapton, Trace Adkins, Vince Gill, B.B. King, Zac Brown Band, Royal Crown Revue, Paris Combo, Sanseverino, Pink, Lady Gaga, Jay Z, or U2, to name a few,” says Fabrice. “What they do is so creative and true.”

Fabrice was born in France in the Alps in a little town called Aix Les Bains, known for its healing spa. Tracy was born in California. “I am an Air Force Brat so we moved here and there,” says Tracy. “I spent half of my childhood in Georgia so that’s where I get the Southern influence. Georgia is the epitome of America and I love the hospitality of the people and of course, Country music.” Animals are a passion says Tracy, who supports both Last Chance for Animals run by Chris DeRose and St. Martin’s Animal Foundation run by Sky Valencia.

LONDON, ENGLAND (Gosh!TV) 2011/12/21 – “Our inspirations range from The Beatles to Jack White to Little Dragon, so quite an eclectic mix including classic rock, electro and jazz,” says The Disraeli Gears singer-songwriter Teia Fregona. “For about four years the only band I listened to was Red Hot Chili Peppers and their guitarist John Frusciante,” says Tom Kitson.

Guitarist Tom Kitson and singer Teia Fregona began jamming together after a chance encounter at Abbey Road, the studios made famous by The Beatles. After a few years, Fregona picked up a guitar and Tom started singing and The Disraeli Gears became complete with Alex Moorse on drums and Samuel Delves on bass.

Fregona and Kitson write songs together. They begin by just playing around with

Tom Kitson of The Disraeli Gears

ideas, phrases, and riffs until eventually they come upon something they both like, “Usually Teia focuses on phrases, and I’ll work on guitar,” says Kitson. “But, we don’t always stick to these roles. When we’re writing together as a band the process is a lot more organic and spontaneous.”

“I’m not sure that when we start writing a song that we have a clear idea or definition of what it will be about,” says Fregona. “Once it forms, the meaning becomes clearer. We’ve written songs about selfish society, about drug use, about the Catch-22 situation of insanity.

Fregona moved to London from South Africa to be a musician. “It was never a question of why,” says Fregona, “rather something that had been an indelible part of me since early childhood.”

Kitson started playing classical guitar quite early on. He says he wasn’t captivated by it at first. “Then my parents bought me an electric guitar for Christmas when I was about twelve, and that was it really.”

The Disraeli Gears are playing a few dates in London and around England and looks forward to a tour of the UK at Easter. They’ve opened for a post-rock band called Killington Fall, but are focusing on music recording to create an EP. “Come early February, we’ll have our material up on all the main channels, until then we do have a single up entitled Rotary which is a free download on our bandcamp,” says Fregona. “Come Summer we’ll be touring again, but on a larger scale and playing as many festivals as possible.”

LONDON, ENGLAND (Gosh!TV) 2011/12/18 – “To me our music means everything,” says The Fuse lead singer Alex Lato. “It’s what I’ve fought for over all these years, the right to carry on chasing the dream and make a living out of the pursuit. To those fans who come to all our shows, I guess it means…something uplifting.”

The Fuse is a New Wave pop rock band based in London. They have released a new record “Freedom Of The City” which is currently available to buy on CD Baby, iTunes and Amazon. The band members are lead vocals Alex Lato, drummer Jake Blair, bass Michael Varnava, keyboards Kiki and guitarist Simon Bowker. Gosh!Radio is hosting a live call in show with lead singer Alex Lato on Monday.

“When it comes to the band’s songwriting, an old friend of the band, Ian Tompson, summed it up nicely, ‘Don’t bore us, get to the chorus’,” says Lato. “An idea can be anything from a riff to a half-worked song. Then the band will explore it and get a feel for it. Once the structure is 70% complete, I’ll start trying to realise the words and melody. Then we’ll play the song in. Usually, during the playing in we will edit the song a bit further, which sometimes necessitates lyrical rethinking.”

The biggest show for The Fuse so far was supporting UB40 in Holland last year. That was massive with a big stage, big sound system, and a big crowd. In terms of inspiration, Lato says he looks to King Alfred The Great, Sir Francis Drake, Steve Jobs, anyone who triumphed against all the odds.

“Jake [drummer Jake Blair] and I formed the band in July 2006,” says Lato. “The first member was Michael Varnava on bass, who had been in my first band at school. Then Kiki, who I had been performing with in Italy when we were at University there. Simon was a replacement for our original guitarist, who quit in November 2006. We auditioned Simon in December 2006 and he joined the band in January 2007.”

The Fuse is about to leave for Munich, Germany. They’ll meet with their agent there, Mike Durrschmidt and will be recording three tracks with the producer Sebastian. “These tracks will form the core of our push to the German record labels in 2012,” says Lato.

The Fuse has two albums. Their first album, which we made in Los Angeles is out of print, but you can find it on CD Baby. Its a very limited edition called The Rest Is History. There are only 19 copies left on sale.

The latest Fuse album is called Freedom of The City. That’s available through all the major download stores. Its also on Spotify. It has a large mirror ball on the front cover. There are a very few CD copies remaining from the first press, but the band only sell them at shows.
