30 Rock wins Best Edited Half-Hour Series for Television at 2010 ACE Eddie Awards
HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!TV) 2/14/2010 – Film and TV editors took home some special Valentines in the form of Eddie Awards trophies during the 60th Annual ACE Eddie Awards held tonight at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Lynne Willingham, A.C.E. won for Best Edited One-Hour Series for Commercial television for Breaking Bad: ABQ. Ken Eluto, A.C.E. won for Best Edited Half-Hour Series for Television with 30 Rock: Apollo Apollo. Louis Cioffi won for Best Edited One-Hour Series for Non-Commercial Television with Dexter: Remains to be Seen. Alan Heim, A.C.E. and Lee Percy, A.C.E. won for Best Edited Miniseries or Motion Picture for Television with Grey Gardens. Kelly Coskran and Josh Earl won for Best Edited Reality Series with The Deadliest Catch: Stay Focused or Die.
NBC Community star Joel McHale served as master of ceremonies at the black-tie ceremony with over 1,000 in attendance to celebrate the year’s best editing. Presenters included James Cameron, Morgan Freeman, Lee Daniels, Gabourey Sidibe, Avatar star Michelle Rodriguez, and Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston. Trophies were handed out in nine categories of film, television and documentaries. The evening was presided over by ACE President Randy Roberts, A.C.E.
Bob Murawski and Chris Innis won Best Edited Feature Film (Drama) for The Hurt Locker. Debra Neil-Fisher, A.C.E. won Best Edited Feature Film (Comedy or Musical) for and The Hangover. Kevin Nolting won Best Edited Animated Feature Film for Up. Geoffrey Richman won Best Edited Documentary for The Cove.
Rob Reiner received the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year honor presented to him by longtime collaborator Christopher Guest. Lifetime Career Achievement Awards were given to industry veterans Paul F. LaMastra, A.C.E. and Neil Travis, A.C.E. Avid received the first-ever ACE Technical Excellence Award.
The Student Editing Competition winner was Andrew Hellesen of Chapman University who beat out hundreds of competitors from film schools and universities around the country. AMERICAN CINEMA EDITORS (ACE) is an honorary society of motion picture editors founded in 1950. Film editors are voted into membership on the basis of professional achievements and dedication. ACE produces a weekend-long editing festival in the summer called EditFest and publishes the quarterly magazine CinemaEditor.
